Abstract

The Elections Commission (DKPP), as an institution enforcing the elec- tion code of ethics, has a responsibility to maintain integrity in its work, as a manifestation of an important character in the implementation of elections. This study aims to analyze the limits of the DKPP’s authority

in enforcing election ethics and examine the expansion of ethical sanc- tions that have been decided by the DKPP. This study uses a normative juridical method using primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials and analyzed qualitatively. The results of this study conclude that the DKPP’s role is not only focused on the rule of law, but also on the rule of eth- ics. However, in carrying out its duties and authorities, the DKPP needs to be careful in interpreting and expanding ethical sanctions against elec- tion organizers in Indonesia to remain within the limits of its authority.
