Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Jurnal Etika dan Pemilu is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethics in scholarly publishing. Our policy is guided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been published elsewhere. Any use of another person’s work must be properly cited. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software.

  • Authorship: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study.

  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could be perceived as influencing the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

  • Data Accuracy: Authors are expected to provide raw data in connection with the paper for editorial review if requested and should be prepared to provide public access to such data.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Fair Play: Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual content, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.

  • Editorial Decisions: The decision to accept or reject a paper is based on the paper’s importance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Peer reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions and may assist the author in improving the quality of the paper.

  • Promptness: Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor.

  • Standards of Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

  • Confidentiality: Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.

4. Ethical Oversight and Handling of Misconduct

  • Plagiarism & Fraud: If evidence of plagiarism, falsification, or fabrication is identified, the journal will take immediate action, including rejecting the manuscript and potentially banning the author from future submissions.

  • Retraction Policy: In the event of confirmed fraudulent data or major errors, the journal will issue a formal retraction notice to maintain the integrity of the scientific record.

  • Appeals: Authors have the right to appeal an editorial decision if they believe there was an error in the evaluation process.
