Abstract

The implementation of the 2024 elections was not free from conflicts of interest and political corruption committed by state officials, thereby un- dermining the integrity of the elections. This study aims to discuss the factors causing conflicts of interest and political corruption in elections and to describe the prevention and accountability of conflicts of interest and political corruption in elections. The results of the study show that: first, the factors causing conflicts of interest and political corruption in the 2024 elections include inadequate law enforcement and weak public ethics among state officials, which do not reflect the public interest. Second, con- flicts of interest and political corruption can be prevented by improving the electoral legal framework and the code of ethics for state officials in gen- eral. Accountability can be achieved through legal accountability by enforc- ing administrative and ethical legal norms, as well as political accountability through checks and balances by parliament on conflict of interest practices and alleged political corruption committed by the executive in the elections.
